"Pennsy" Magazine, July-August 1957
Title:  "Pennsy" Magazine, July-August 1957
Description:  Here is a photo from an article entitled "Men Who Run The PRR: Master Mechanics Keep Rolling Stock Moving." It was published originally in the July-August 1957 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 8. The photographer is not identified. Shown here are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9616 and two more "FA" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9616 is an AF-16 built in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They are pulling a string of hopper cars under the 4th Street Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.

PRR E&M Yard, #2 of 3, 1966
Title:  PRR E&M Yard, #2 of 3, 1966
Description:  E&M. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during April of 1966. Shown here is a view to the right of the trusty turntable. Visible are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented, but mostly those built by the American Locomotive Company. In the foreground is PRR engine #8916, an AS-16MS built by ALCo in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. Behind it is PRR engine #9616, an AF-16 built by ALCo in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. And behind that is PRR engine #8912, another AS-16MS built by ALCo in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower.
