Description:  Sunday. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 02 May 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #6307 and #6304. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They have just passed under the 24th Street Bridge on their way to East Altoona after making a helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and back. Also visible on the right is a partial view of SLOPE Tower.

They are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge on their way to East Altoona to get ready to make another helper/pusher run up to Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and back.

Shown here are two sets of helper/pusher units returning to East Altoona for more runs up the Allegheny Mountains and back. On the right are PRR engines #6304 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. Beyond the 24th Street Bridge are PRR engines #6500 and #6306. #6500 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #6306 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower.

Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6001, #6304, and another unit whose number is not recorded. #6001 is an EF-25A built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #6304 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. They are pushing a mixed-cargo freight train under the 7th Street Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin, where they will uncouple and return to East Altoona to make another run up the Mountains. This photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge's employee stairway to WORKS Tower.
