Album Info:The SRT organizes an annual day excursion from Bangkok to Pa Sak Jolasid lake in nearby Lopburi and Saraburi provinces every year in Late November or early December, depending on when the local sunflowers are in season. The highlight of this trip is a 40 minute stopover at a sunflower plantation next to the rail line and then a crossing of the lake, with 30 minutes photo stop mid-bridge, on what is said to be the longest railway bridges in Thailand. SRT runs daily service over this line but trains do not normally stop outside the stations. The lake was a major project and built in the 1990's. It dams the Pa Sak river and provides water and flood control for nearby areas and Bangkok. When built, the SRT chose to keep close to its original alighnment and cross the arms of the lake on fillwork and bridges rather than go on land. There are 3 long bridge crossings over the arms of the lake, 2 bridges being about 3/4 mile in length and having shallow, superelevated curves along thier lengths. The deck height is about 15 ft. above full lake level and when water is low it shows some impressive arches. After crossing the lake the train then runs upline a bit further to a passing siding at Khok Sa Long, the power then runs around the cars to the new front end for the pull back inbound. It will then stop at Pasak Dam Station for a 2 1/2 hour layover before returning to Bangkok. The run from Bangkok is an all day event and passes through some beautiful countryside. This excursion series is popular and sells out quickly with tickets going for about $8.50 US round trip!

SRT 1195
Title:  SRT 1195
Description:  Last car in the Excursion train. An SRT employee watches from the vestibule. Hay bales serve as 'steps' between stairwell and ballast. Mrs. Sarnt says that since last year's service SRT has stepped up passenger safety, indeed, we noticed at every car cheerful and service minded staff present to guide and assist passengers. The red circle probably serves the same purpose as a FRED device.

SRT 4414 Saraburi
Title:  SRT 4414 Saraburi
Description:  With 99.1% of all passengers on this train out in the sunflower fields behind, about 1% of Us railfan passengers instead converged on the head end to get some awesome shots of the power under awesomely blue Saraburi skies! The main here is single track, and out of the 40 minutes for layover, the train stayed long enough to offload before scooting the short distance upline to Hin Son station siding to allow a DMU set to pass before backing down to pick everyone up.
