Album Info:As in Switzerland are many hills and mountains, there are many scenic locations to be found. Alp transit lines on Gotthard and on Loetschberg/Simplon have always spectacular places to go. Also included in this album are historical and museum trains as well as more artistic images, playing with sun, night aso. NEWEST pictures always in first position.

Description:  1875 the French line Pontarlier–Vallorbe with a new tunnel Col de Jougne opened, so a new mainline between the city of Paris and Milan through the Simplonlinie was possible for the first time. Vallorbe became a famous border station between France and Switzerland, with a timely and generous platform building to acclaim the travelers. Today, empty and forgotten, a few local trains and a pair of TGV Lausanne-Paris stops here.

It was 1897 followed by the east-west connection. The RABe 520 shows the swiss rr name in German (SBB), French (CFF) and Italian (FFS), 3 of 4 languages we have in our small country.
