Description:  1:19 pm: Eastbound manifest freight train 38Q rolls around a curve about 2 miles west of Bull’s Gap. I’ve been wondering how realistic it would be to mix some intermodal cars on the end of a manifest freight train on a HO model layout, and seeing 38Q today answered my question. At the end of the long freight train were 10 or 12 intermodal cars carrying a mix of international and domestic containers and trailers on spine cars.

NS 6807 is the former Burlington Northern BN 9200/BNSF 8100 built in December, 1989. It was acquired by Norfolk Southern through National Railway Equipment in June, 2014. It is referred to as “Cyclops” because of the center windshield panel.
