Title:  CN 2-87-0 2170 - Canadian National
Description:  Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in 1913 as Canadian Northern #2170, it merged on to the Canadian National roster in 1923. Specs - serial # 1163, class M-3-e, 57" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 23x26" cylinders, engine weight of 185,000 lb, tractive effort of 36,919 lb. The loco was scrapped in September of 1961. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:  Good looking 2-8-0 Consolidation originally built by the Canadian Locomotive Company as Canadian Government Rwy #313 but merged onto the Canadian National roster as their #2381 in 1919. Specs - serial #1331, class N-3-d, 63" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 24x32" cylinders, engine weight of 231,000 lb, tractive effort of 44,763 lb. The loco was retired and scrapped march of 1958. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:  Originally built as Grand Trunk Rwy #627 (class D2) by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1910, it was merged into the Canadian National roster and renumbered #2686. Specs - serial #46891, CN class N-4-f, 63" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 22.5x32" cylinders, engine weight of 211,200 lb, tractive effort of 32,478 lb. The locomotive was scrapped in March of 1954. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:  The brakeman heads down the steps to get the orders at an unidentified yard. The 2-8-0 Consolidation was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1906 as Grand Trunk Rwy #662 but merged on to the CN roster in 1923 as their #2526 seen here. Specs - serial #39559, class N-4-a, 56" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 23x32" cylinders, engine weight of 211,200 lb, tractive effort of 46,250 lb. The locomotive was scrapped in January of 1959. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo. Does anyone recognize the location from the buildings to the right?

Description:  Pulling a short local is Canadian National 2-8-0 #2525. Originally built by the Montreal Locomotive Works as Grant Trunk Rwy #661, it was part of the 1919 merger placing it on the CN roster as CN #2525. Specs - serial #39558, class N-4-a, 56" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 23x32" cylinders, engine weight of 211,200 lb, tractive effort of 46,250 lb. The locomotive was scrapped in Novembeer of 1961 after 55 years of service. Although no date, location or photographer was listed for the photo, Bruce Gemmel was able to locate the photo info. Taken by James Walder on 5/5/1958, the loco is working the Milton Subdivision - no exact location given. Thanks again, Bruce, for all of your help!

The locomotive was scrapped in October of 1961.No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo but obviously its at the Orillia depot in Ontario. Bruce Gemmel found the photographer to be Herbert Harwood with an approximate date of 7/16/58.

Description:  Heading up a freight running through the Canadian countryside is the 1918 Montreal Locomotive Works 2-8-0 originally built as Canadian Northern Rwy #2476. Specs - serial #59423, class N-2-b, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 24x32" cylinders, engine weight of 241,500 lb, tractive effort of 49,737 lb. The locomotive was scrapped in October of 1961. Althouth no date, location or photographer was listed for the photo, Bruce Gemmel found the info. The location is the Hawkestone bridge (near Orilia, Ontario) taken on 7/16/1958 by either Herbert Harwood or Jon Rehor and similar to one taken by Don Wood. Thanks, Bruce, for all you help!

Title:  CN 2-8-0 #2676 - Canadian National
Description:  Fine example of an Alco-Schenectady 2-8-0 Consolidation originally built as Grand Trunk Rwy #761 but eventually merged onto the CN roster in January of 1925 as #2676. Specs - serial #43550, class N-4-de After 54 years of service, the loco was scrapped in August of 1961. Although no date, location or photographer was listed for the photo, Bruce Gemmel was able to locate the photo is a reference book. It was taken by James Walder on 7/19/1958 at Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, not far from Bruce's home. The loco is on the wye heading north to Allandale on the old Hamilton & Northwestern line. This track was taken up in the 1970s. The coal sheds at left are now the site of the GO Transit yard and platforms.
