CP 4-6-4 #2839 - Canadian Pacific
Title:  CP 4-6-4 #2839 - Canadian Pacific
Description:  Nice night shot of Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 #2839 while on loan to the Southern Rwy for its steam excursions in 1979-1980. The loco was retired in March of 1963 and was to donated to the Ontario Northland Rwy. For some reason, it was purchased by a group of Pennsylvania investors and restored to running order. The loco then was leased to the Southern Rwy for their excursion program in 1979-80 but wasn't powerful enough for their use. It had a brief movie cameo in the "Coal Miner's Daughter" movie filmed in 1980. The loco was finally sold to Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, California, where it has been cosmetically restored and put on display outside the museum with a Pullman car. Unknown photographer
