ACL 501
Title:  ACL 501
Description:  Atlantic Coast Line #501 was built as an E3A in November 1939 (c/n 959) on EMC Order E335, was wrecked before delivery to ACL, returned to EMC and rebuilt as an E6A. It was retired in 1972 and later owned by Glen Monhart, restored to ACL appearance, and kept in Wisconsin. After Mr. Monhart was tragically killed in an auto accident the engine was purchased from the estate for $200,000, of which NC DOT paid $180,000 (using ISTEA and other state/federal funds) and the NC Transportation History Museum at Spencer paid $20,000. It's actually owned by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and it is on "long term loan" to the museum:

WAB 1009
Title:  WAB 1009
Description:  Wabash #1009 (built as #809 s/n 14420 o/n 6281 La Grange 6/51) is part of the Virginia Transportation Museum collection and a static display only. After falling victim to a flood in 1985, the unit fell into a state of disrepair for many years, with its side sheets missing. In 2012, it was sent to Norfolk Southern’s East End Shop in Roanoke for a cosmetic rebuild. At the end of 2013 it was moved to the NS paint shop in Chattanooga where it was painted into its as-delivered Wabash scheme. The final touches were applied on March 3 2014

NKP 190
Title:  NKP 190
Description:  Doyle McCormack purchased the PA pictured below in sad shape from Mexico in 2000 and is restoring it to operating condition as Nickel Plate Road #190. The locomotive recreates the first locomotive in which McCormack, whose father worked for the Nickel Plate Road, got to ride. It is fitted with a more modern Montreal Locomotive Works 251V12 diesel prime mover & other machinery removed from a wrecked former BC Rail M420B. The trucks came from 2 Canadian Pacific Fairbanks Morse C-liners that Doyle knew were sitting in a Canadian scrapyard. It is one of the 4 (ex-D&H #18 nee Santa Fe #62L, Schenectady December 1948) locomotives purchased by the Delaware & Hudson from the AT&SF in 1967. In 1974-1975, these four units were rebuilt for the D&H by Morrison-Knudsen and equipped with ALCO's 251V12 engines. During this rebuilding the units were given the designation PA-4 by MK. D&H would later sell them to the National of Mexico in 1978

Description:  Union Pacific #949 was sent to VMV Enterprises, Paducah, Kentucky, in June 1992 to be completely remanufactured; the remanufacture effort included a new 16 cylinder 2000-horsepower EMD 645 engine (replacing the original twin 12-cylinder 1,200-horsepower 567 engines), with an AR10 alternator and a GP38-2 design electrical system, completed in late April 1993. UP #949 was sold to Precision National Corp., Mount Vernon, Illinois, in September 1972; sold to C&NW (#511) in September 1972; sold to METRA, after that agency's takeover of the C&NW Chicago commuter operations; sold to Kasten Rail Car Services; UP acquired the unit (along with an ex UP sleeper) in trade for an ex MP business car, on September 11, 1990, to have a second E-unit to operate with UP 951 on special passenger trains. The Armour yellow E9A (E38-2?) was built in May 1955

PAR 1
Title:  PAR 1
Description:  Pan Am Railways PAR1 is one of 2 ex-CN FP9 locomotives (built as #6505 GMDD 9/54) acquired from Via Rail by the Conway Scenic on August 14, 1995. The locomotives were the primary motive power for Notch Train excursions starting on September 16, 1995, with #6516 entering into service working the notch as a powerless unit (became powered in 1998) with ex-B&M #4266. The 6505 entered full operational service on September 23, 1996. and would remain like that until August 2006 when service was taken over by 2820. The FP9 set worked the last few weeks of the 2006 notch train season but would not turn a wheel again till September 2007 when the 2820 suffered a broken crank shaft. From that point on the “sisters” remained the primary power through the 2009 season. In March 2010, the locomotives were traded to Pan Am Railways for GP38 #252 and GP35 #216 to become the motive power for Pan Am's business train. The 6505, which last operated on October 18, 2009, was shipped out on May 14, 2010 and had its inaugural run with Pan Am Railways on July 1, 2010 under its new number
