Title:  GN #1244 WHITE PINES LAKE
Description:  Built in 1951 by AC&F in Lot #3445 as GN Ranch Car #1244 WHITE PINES LAKE, 1 of 6 such cars (#1240-#1245) built in that Lot for the Mid-Century EMPIRE BUILDER, which was ordered in October 1949; cars were delivered between October 1950 and March 1951. The Ranch Cars had a 14 seat lunch counter, a 12 seat dinette, and a 18 seat lounge. #1240-#1242 and #1244-#1245 were owned by GN; #1243 was owned by CB&Q after 1953. In 1974, Amtrak acquired 4 of these cars as #8150-#8153; #1240 was scrapped and #1244 was sold to Arvid Benson. The #1244 was later resold to Ralph Day (Biddeford, ME), and in 2006, the car was moved from Maine to the The Depot Rail Museum in Columbus, OH. Title:  #800143 IMPERIAL SANDS
Description:  Built in 1942 by P-S in Lot #6668 to Plan #4069H as 4DB-4C-2DR sleeper IMPERIAL SANDS, 1 of 31 such cars built in that Lot, which was ordered in April 1941; cars were delivered between March and April 1942. 18 of the cars were built for the OVERLAND pool with IMPERIAL-series names, 11 of the cars were built for the GOLDEN STATE with GOLDEN-series names, and 2 cars were built for the PANAMA LIMITED. The 18 cars built for the OVERLAND pool were sold on 12/31/1945 to joint ownership of the UP, SP, and C&NW. This joint ownership arrangement lasted until 1947, when 12 of the cars, including the IMPERIAL SANDS, were sold to UP, 2 cars were sold to SP, and 4 cars were sold to C&NW. The IMPERIAL SANDS was retired in October 1969 and sold to William W. Kratville's Autoliner Corporation, which resold the car to Dick Reynolds as Great Western Tours #201. The IMPERIAL SANDS was later acquired by Classic Rail Cars and moved to the Morristown & Erie. Scanned with an Epson V550 from an original Kodachrome 35mm slide.

Built by Pullman-Standard in January 1948 in Lot #6757 to Plan #4144 as AT&SF #1835 REGAL VALE. Sold to Amtrak in 1971 as #2371, retired in 1981 and sold in 1982 to the Anbel Corporation in Brownsville, TX, no further disposition info. Seen here in the consist of the SUNSET LIMITED (direction unknown) during the station stop in El Paso. Scanned with an Epson V550 from an original Kodachrome 35mm slide. Photographer is unknown.
