MILW 992299
Title:  MILW 992299
Description:  Not sure how many of these "Franken-cabooses" were built, but it was apparently necessary for the caboose to be the same length as the coal hoppers used in the Gascoyne (ND) - Big Stone Power Plant (SD) operation. Coal from the Knife River Coal Mine near Gascoyne, ND moved to the power plant near the SD/MN border east of Milbank, SD. This was a 700 mile round trip. The hoppers, built by Thrall, had hinged lids. Six trains a week moved to the power plant.

MILW 1992
Title:  MILW 1992
Description:  On the WGN at Trego is this faux Milwaukee Road caboose. The Milwaukee Road had a handful of International extended vision cars which were built to BN specs in 1976 for coal train service, but compared to those cars, on this car the number is wrong, the air reservoir is in the wrong place and the end windows in the cupola are the wrong shape. I am 99% certain that this is a former Soo Line car, which is supported by the 9/66 build date and "SOO" lettering on the COT&S label.
