BNSF 4991 |
Description: |
BNSF 4991 leading a covered hopper consist north - at least when she gets a green - paused in the scattered, what are those? We dont have them around here usually - I asked someone from another part of the country and he said, "They call those things shadows and theyre often associated with bright sun." Huh, go figure... sha-dough - guess it makes sense, like dough splatter on stuff - probably has to do with the warmer temperature and this weird rain that you cant see or feel. |

BNSF 6859 at the rear ready to push the just-under-a-mile-long string of covered hoppers northward - the lead engine pair is just a stones throw this side of the blue-colored Fruit Valley Road - Lake Shore Drive bridge/over-pass - funny, it doesnt look that long from this angle (usually this shots not visible as the tree limb is weighed down by rain water and down-draft) - all under the setting sun light and long shadows. |

BNSF 6848(with DODX flats) meets/passes BNSF 9524 |
Description: |
BNSF 6848(with DODX flats) meets/passes BNSF 9524 leading mixed freight. Sorry for all the excess pixel in this image, but it shows the new siding leading up to the new turn-table (mast can be made out just to the left of the new light tower in the mid-distance - the mast frame of the turn-table just visible over the closest boxcar on that string of mixed freight in the sort yard). This view is looking south off the Fruit Valley-Lake Shore Drive over-pass with 39th Street over-pass marking the mid-yard point. The passing lane to the double main is the right-most track currently with BNSF 9524 and her line of mixed hodge-podge (usually its covered hoppers sitting there). All this under (wonderful) harsh sun... most of the puddles have since evaporated or drained off. |

Description: |
BNSF 9524 at the point of a triple with mixed freight paused in the passing lane waiting on an empty south-bound Dept of Defense flat-line... you start looking at the new paint scheme and have to wonder when the SF will fall from the BNSF moniker... will Master Buffett really take a bigger bite and merge with another rail-line... changing it to BNNSSF (or more correctly "It _was_ a merger! Look, the NS is still in there... it says right there: bNSf - although we had to correct the capitalization, so it says, BNSF." Think of the cool logo, though if they kept the NS - you could put the BN on top, drop the NS down in vertical using the N from the BN, then clip the old SF off that lead S moving horizontal again like a little stylized Z - or as this paint scheme suggests, "Eh, its just too many letters and confusing with the N-squared and S-squared - too much paint... Well just call it B - as in Big B, because now were north _and_ south, so just Buffet... I mean, Burlington. And see? We even kept part of the NS livery - see all that road dirt on the power? Right off the NS instruction sheet - well makeem white and primer dirty green.") |

BNSF 7078 - BNSF 752 BNSF 3186 |
Description: |
BNSF 7078 - BNSF 752 picking up speed shuffling a long string of empty double-stack well-cars north through the night rain (uh, wait, what time is it? Sorry, its ten in the morning, not ten at night - my mistake - cant see _how_ I couldve thought it was night since the camera meter was cursing me for hand holding this at that level of zoom promising me endless woe - probably just pissed about how wet the camera was getting as the clouds opened up as I stepped to the middle of the bridge.) BNSF 3186 (orange nose on sort duty, lights off to the left of the frame) - at least someone had the good sense to just sit out the downpour. |

BNSF 752 |
Description: |
BNSF 752 in second, but conscientiously keeping her eye back on the long line of empty well-cars trailing off in the distance behind her on the trip toward Seattle from Vancouver. Has anyone considered the silver-red with orange A/C might actually be the official livery colors? |

Description: |
BNSF 7639 - CSX759 double-header northbound mixed freight under moderate rain, drizzle, and drippy haze (The Pacific Northwest society has over 300 different words for rain) - but those are blooming trees in the background, reminders of the warmth and sun from what seems like long ago in February. |

BNSF 7639 |
Description: |
BNSF 7639 shooting up through the yards along the main... in the rain. Again. I know I said Id never complain about our weather ever again after such a wonderful February series of days with sun and warm weather while the rest of the country got hit by snow storm after snow storm, but... well... I lied through my teeth. And Im also not going to become a man of the cloth - at least I didnt promise that one. |
