BNSF 687
Title:  BNSF 687
Description:  BNSF 687 in war-blush livery with the oddest color A/C unit... where did they get an olive paint job... oh, oops... Five finger discount from a government/army depot? (Or a poor quickie UP-yellow color dip to weaken the banana/lemon flavor?)

BNSF 797
Title:  BNSF 797
Description:  BNSF 797 still in bright war-bonnet red and silver... and a better way to finish out 2016, even if it ks raining, foggy, cold, winding, freezing, and... wait, where was I going with this sentence?

BNSF 7283 ; BNSF 2112 ; BNSF 1599
Title:  BNSF 7283 ; BNSF 2112 ; BNSF 1599
Description:  BNSF 7283 ; BNSF 2112 ; BNSF 1599 in a stage setting shot for the rest of the year so we can all be on the same page. BNSF 7283 and long line of road power is sitting on the eastern-most of the power-corral tracks while BNSF 2112-BNSF 2674 local yard pair rest temporarily on the middle power-in-waiting rails next to the inspection pit shed - all of which feed into the turn-table spur or road-readiness tank-n-top-off sand-water-and-diesel station to the south of the 39th Street over-pass. To the left of the frame is the new westbound-to-northbound Vancouver Center yard by-pass lane swirling along everything. Further, just off stage left, is my power corral fish-in-a-barrel shooting spot - at least when its not blocked by the new by-pass lane acting as a holding tank for clear rail... which has been an increasing finding markedly reducing my number of shots on any given Sunday. Welcome to my trip to church and another year of Sunday early evening snapping.

BNSF 1512
Title:  BNSF 1512
Description:  BNSF 1512 in the inspection pit lead track and utilizing the wet filter (oh, wait, thats not a filter, its physically raining... so much for thinking Sony did manage to do something right and designed an ultimately realistic effect... I swear... I could feel it... soaking right through the coat and everything!).

BNSF 2367
Title:  BNSF 2367
Description:  BNSF 2367 southern-most unit (and local yard power) in the far power holding track under rainy skies - at least Ill blame the rain on the lack of detail and muddy appearance - its better than admitting I selected a bummer of a camera to replace my dead Canon.

BNSF 6274
Title:  BNSF 6274
Description:  BNSF 6274 way up in the road-readiness lane, topping off tanks and battening down the hatches for the storm... speaking of which, take a second look at the picture, but this time think of those paintings of ships in a stormy sea...

BNSF 7314
Title:  BNSF 7314
Description:  BNSF 7314 at fourth southern slot and nearing the end of the power-in-waiting lane. As a side note, converting this to gray scale and digitally equalizing-stretching (histogram manipulation) the image makes for a pretty neat old timey print... blurry and everything! (Oh, wait - possibly not the best option.)

BNSF 5530
Title:  BNSF 5530
Description:  BNSF 5530 southern of three in the road readiness lane sporting the ever-present complimentary color scheme A/C unit... which I would presume is not seeing use today. (Side bar: no - I couldnt find a single point in the entire frame in focus, so its not your eyes going funky. Shot at 1/1000s (not 1/100!) f6.3 ISO 800 (because of snow Id clicked up the exposure compensation dial 2/3 stops - you know, because snow isnt gray - 180mm equivalent zoom (approx 10x zoom - no, not digital, optical... the camera says it can go out to 30x optical - although if youre not going to bother having anything in focus, heck, why not use the digital zoom, too? Just kidding. I think.) - Any hints yet if its me or the camera? (If I didnt still have the broken Canon, I might consider it being me and getting older (not just crankier) and less steady... but, dang, folks - thats 1/1000s at less than 200mm - with image stabilization - yes, Ive tried it on a tripod and not better (but the camera does say its on a tripod when I do it - so at least its a smart camera, even if just as blind as myself - its one of the reasons I ditched the real camera (Pentax k1000... yes, Im that old... yes, I used it forever) - because my eyesight was shot and I couldnt manually focus - luckily the digital camera revolution had started at that time, so I went to pocket snappers (well, as small as the Olympus 340 was at the time - it was smaller than my Pentax with a 28-80mm zoom and covered about the same range of optical zoom... at a huge whopping 1-3Mb image size(!) - but that original Oly could still out-focus me on any given day. I still have the Pentax (no sense wasting money to purchase a weight set/hand dumbbell - I just put the 300mm lens on the body and hoist away for five or ten minutes... Im cranky, blind, and round - but frugal) - anyway - to say the least, my adventure in trying a Sony camera has been less than stellar.

BNSF 752
Title:  BNSF 752
Description:  BNSF 752 middle of the road stop-n-go top-off and maintenance-three under a sunny, cold sunset glinting off the newer holding silos of United Grain in the background. (If the Sony wont give a crisp picture in sun, I dont know what to say - but the northern-most unit (cropped completely form this picture) was so fuzzy on the horizontal shots I couldnt read the road number clear enough to post it. Wow. Not quite as close as my shooting-fish-in-a-barrel area, but dang, folks, its just across the road and down the slope - its not like I have the lens racked out to 300mm equivalent.)

Description:  BNSF 1508 last (or first) of the local three on the sit-and-spin spur at Vancouver in a black cat at midnight shot in the darker shadows of the over-pass at the close of the day/start of evening here in Vancouver. (The GP38-2 mostly discernable on the Canon at maximum ISO push 1/250s and zoomed in.)

BNSF 2102
Title:  BNSF 2102
Description:  BNSF 2102 at the front of three (or rear of three) on the active end of the turn-table spur which connects back to the service area behind the RIP sheds, inspection pit, and dual power holding tracks as seen from atop the 39th Street over-pass looking down on her (for a change of perspective since from the other side lots of things were in the way - nothing like a brief run up the side road across the bridge to snag a quick shot before the return run... before church. At least its only in the teens with the howling wind-chill and raining, not like theres bad weather or anything.

Title:  BNSF 618 - BNSF 4773 - BNSF 5083 with BNSF 1668
Description:  BNSF 618 - BNSF 4773 - BNSF 5083 with BNSF 1668 in front of the inspection pit shed looking back at the service area from the 39th Street over-pass on a cold, blustery evening in Vancouver. The Columbia River train bridge in the back right of the frame and looking off into Oregon in the distance (Jantzen Beach area); a waiting northbound mixed freight in the foreground on the new ladder by-pass swirl of track extending back around the service area on the left of the frame disappearing at yet another curve with various tank cars leading to boxcars and others around the bend back to the east.

BNSF 6944 - BNSF 1063, BNSF 759
Title:  BNSF 6944 - BNSF 1063, BNSF 759
Description:  BNSF 6944 - BNSF 1063, BNSF 759... and more in a drool-worthy group hidden back in the power corral neatly tucked out of my preferred fish in a barrel shooting zone off to the left of the frame. Eh, at least is raining horses and cattle, so maybe its an excuse to stay a little more dry (the handkerchief in my inside pocket is probably still dry on one side - that counts as dry... doesnt it?)
