Title:  Unpatched SP Tunnel Motor
Description:  Here's 1 of the 2 Unpatched SP SD40T-2's still on the UP Active Roster, albeit not currently operating. It is seen here in the Burnham Shops Deadline. SP 8293 was removed from service at South Morrill, NE on 11-8-04 due to an engine failure. It was stored at Progress Rail in South Morrill until being moved to North Platte, NE on 10-8-05, then here at Burnham. It was finally formally retired on 1-21-08.

Description:  The Colorado Railroad Museum had a party today for the 346, since it was returned to service today. This is a 3 foot gauge Baldwin Engine from 7-1881. It was built as DRG 5712, then to DRG 406, named "Cumbres". It was then renumbered DRGW 346 in 1924 as a Class C-19 engine before being sold to Montezuma Lumber Co. in 5-1947, purchased by Robert W. Richardson 7-1950. It was first steamed up by CRRM on 7-29-1962.

Description:  DRGW 491 looks like it's all steamed up...but it's just the exhaust from 346. The 1902 Baldwin 2-8-2 has is Builder's #20829, originally a Class C-41 standard gauge locomotive, DRGW 1126. It was renumbered 1026 in 1924, rebuilt 1928 to narrow 3 foot gauge #491. It was donated in 1970 to the Colorado Historical Society and stored at Alamosa until it was moved to CRRM on long-term loan in 6-1985.

Title:  CB&Q 5629 4-8-4
Description:  This is Chicago Burlington & Quincy Class 05-A 4-8-4, built at West Burlington, IA shops in 6-1940. It was converted to an oil burner around 1950 as a Class 05-B engine. It has a tender capacity of 7,300 gallons of oil, and a water capacity of 18,000. It was retired by the Burlington Route in 1956 at Lincoln, NE. It is deemed to be an excellent example of the most modern dual service steam locomotive used by the Q on its Chicago-Twin Cities and Chicago-Omaha-Denver Mainlines. It was donated to the Intermountain Chapter NRHS by CB&Q 9-1963.

Description:  This F9A and F9B set was once used in mainline freight service between Denver and Salt Lake City, as well as being used on the California Zephyr in the 1960's and the Rio Grande Zephyr later on in the 1970's and early 1980's before Amtrak took over the service. Their last revenue trip in freight service was on 9-30-84, and they were donated by SP on 9-11-96.

Title:  Southbound UP Manifest With UP 1989
Description:  Stopped at Colorado Springs making a set out was UP Train MNYPU 10 with the DRGW Heritage Locomotive running 2nd of 3. We tried to get the crew to uncouple them. About the time Kevin and I thought we had them conviced to tear them apart, they decided not to, but we reached a compromise: they'd leave them stopped as long as we needed for photos. Thanks to Conductor Lucero and Engineer Shawcroft.

Description:  My ride's here. I'll hop on and go home I guess. I couldn't pass up the fare: $69. I don't think I could have walked home for that price. The train arrived around 6:50 P.M., 33 minutes early. The train left right on time at 7:23 P.M. We arrived into Kansas City, MO at 8:29 A.M. on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, 1 hour and 3 minutes late.

Title:  KCS 2007 Holiday Express
Description:  The Holiday Express has just pulled into Drexel for its first scheduled stop here on its 7th Annual Run. This was my first good look at the FP9's (excluding my brief glimpse of them in Shreveport this past June). They sure looked great in the late afternoon sun with the Pyle National Gyralight and Twin Sealed Beam Headlight. KCS 1 also has a nice Nathan P5. Nothing like a set of A-B-A Covered Wagons sitting in town for 5 hours.
