PNWR 2306 - PNWR 2315 - PNWR 3007 |
Description: |
PNWR 2306 - PNWR 2315 - PNWR 3007 completing the local switch-r-roo from 3007 being in front for the northward journey across the Columbia River to 2306 to take point on the return trip. The trio paused between consists just north of the 39th Street bridge Im currently using for a brief moment of cover from the rain while trying to clean the lens and figure out my own stupidity for leaving early to church "so I could have at least 30 minutes of almost daylight" before darkness falls in another 15-20 minutes... turned out to be thirty extra minutes to perfect my wet dog smell which I achieved far quicker than expected wearing Sunday Goin-To-Meetin clothes. To all those seated in the neighboring pews, I apologize for putting serious pew into those same pews (honestly - in some societies wet dog smell is the aroma of royalty!). |

PNWR 3007 |
Description: |
PNWR 3007 nose to the load on a southbound triple header hauling the local back home waiting for clear track on the deck of Vancouver Station... and its 4:30PM, theres no light left, a wet dog smells better than I do, Im saturated down to my Fruit-of-the-Looms, and I hope to dry out a little before having to settle into a pew for the rest of the evening, so splash back to the car to the disbelieving stare of the better-half, who has remained in the car listening to Christmas music for the past twenty minutes... and you wanna know something? Except for the fact they refused to turn on the heat in the church, I dont think I wouldve traded the evening for most anyone elses. Thanks for trains. |

AMTK 469 & PNWR 3007 & BNSF 2752 |
Description: |
AMTK 469 & PNWR 3007 & BNSF 2752 filling the lanes beside Vancouver Amtrak Station. AMTK 469 power/pusher on southbound Cascades doing a near-touch-and-go, PNWR 3007 was the lead unit in the northward local, then trailing unit in the quick get out of the way of the Cascades reverse back into the station area, but will return back out to the yard area (crossing the left/Amtrak occupied track to get access to the yard & her staged local for the return trip south back across the bridge (partially visible in the background to the right near the setting sun). BNSF 2752 is in the paired bridge protection spur waiting for inaction. All below the last moments of sunset a day after New Years. Id have to admit, sort of a neat way to start the year. |

PNWR 2305 - PNWR 2308 - PNWR 2306 - PNWR 3007 local power quad sliding up into the far main along the station coming down from the north - potentially in a holding pattern to move her out of the way of the soon to arrive south bound Cascades (and with the near rails still warm from the just departed southbound Amtrak 510 pair - talk about a neat Saturday on deck (my thanks to the beloved for suggesting services a day early for a change). |

The Other P&W |
Description: |
Did you know there's a P&W on the West Coast? Well... Now you do! The Portland & Western, now like its east coast "cousin," is a G&W short-line based out of the Portland/Vancouver area. On a really crappy Afternoon in Vancouver the seasonal weather doesn't disappoint as P&W 633 (running as F PWVAAB1 19T on BNSF) round the curve at Vancouver's Amtrak Station about to cross the Columbia River Bridge into Portland with a trio of orange geeps. Thanks to the orange EMDs and some colorful #SCE I managed to capture a color other than grey while foaming that day. |
